Forgotten Objects - Primary Schools Competition

Attics and sheds are full of old things from long ago. This year we asked Primary Students to look for an interesting object from the past and tell us all about it. There were two categories art and written. This year’s competition ‘Forgotten Objects’ really caught everyone’s imagination. It was very popular with 197 entries. Some schools and classes took it on as a project with a ‘show and tell’ day or a ‘forgotten objects’ table in the classroom.

Students from Junior Infants to sixth class went out of their way to find their ‘forgotten object’ and a lot of thought and effort went into each students work. There was a great variety of objects including horseshoes, old photographs, gramophones, helmets, coins, typewriters, a World War One 1 medal, a high nelly bicycle and a bosco doll to name a few!

Talented young writers and artists across the country entered the competition. In the written category we received wonderful poems and short stories. In the art category there is a mixture of paintings, drawing, collages and photographs.
