My memory

I remember the May altar in the church on May Day and the growing daffodils and green fields and the singing of the choir in mass, singing ‘Queen of the May’ and Our Lady of Knock ‘Golden Rose’. May is the first month of summer. I remember going to school we would have a nature walk and would have to identify all acorns and leaves on trees and different types of trees. I found this enjoyable and the best part of the school year.

When did this happen?

1980s (approximately)

Where did this happen?

In the church on May Day – Ballyhaunis
