Beware of the Gliomach!

Here our animators – Aoife, Jonathan & Rachel – bring to life a folktale about a sea-monster (“Gliomach”, meaning a lobster) which was said to live under the Claddagh Bridge – today known as Wolfe Tone Bridge – and tormented the men of the Claddagh.

Is the story true, or is it a clever ruse by the women of the Claddagh to keep the fishermen in check?

  • Hi Kate for some reason with this clip, you need to move the player a fraction to start the video….try that and see does it work for you
