The Titanic Launch Ticket
By Caoimhe Ni Chorragain, 1st year.
On the 31st of may,1911
I got a letter in the mail, it was an invitation
to travel on the world’s finest ship,
the titanic, at 12:15 pm.
The ticket was light, light as a feather
with the white star line stamp, in the corner
I thought I was mad to refuse
such an honour to see the titanic
I kindly refused, as I did not like the sea
I left it at alone, never again to be seen,
I never did see the titanic set sail,
but I heard many wonderful tails,
On the 15th of April, one year later
there was a piece about titanic in the paper.
The unsinkable ship, disappeared in the ocean
two thousand people, survived the devastation
There was a lot of rumours, about that ship
and how it disappeared, how it sank
to this day,we honour the passengers and crew,
who stayed calm, when they were about to lose.
So I might not be here today,
but my original invitation is here to stay.
It’s worth a lot, in New York now
to show off to all the crowd.
It’s crumpled up and dirty, but that’s all right
it’s there to honour the people, who lost their lives last night.
